Mr. Deepak Atal has joined the Apeejay Tea Group as Managing Director from Oct 1,2004.  Mr. Atal brings with him 35 years of management experience having joined the Tea industry in 1969 as an Asst. Manager in Assam with James Warren. Over the years he has commendably handled progressively higher levels of responsibility including Whole Time Director & CEO Duncans Industries Ltd. and Managing Director, Rossell Industries Ltd.  Mr. Atal in the year 2000 joined South Asian Petrochem Ltd. as an Executive Director. He has served as Chairman, Indian Tea Association, CCPA, and later Darjeeling Planters Association in the eightees. A keen sports enthusiast with interests in Golf and Cricket Mr. Atal is also active in the Club circle of Kolkata having served as the President of Tollygunge Club in the year 2001-2002.

Mr. Ashok Kumar Bhargava is the Executive Director of Apeejay Tea. He joined the Apeejay Tea Group in 1977 as a Trainee Assistant Manager, became the youngest Manager in 1986 and was inducted on the board as Director Operations in April 2000. He has been a key member of the team, responsible for transformation of the Tea Group into a producer of superior quality teas. Mr Bhargava is an alumnus of the London Business School where he completed the Senior Executive programme with distinction. He leads his team from the front, aligning them with the company's vision and inspiring them to deliver their very best.

Mr. Marcus D Banfield is the Chief Executive Officer of Typhoo Tea Limited with a progressive career of 32 years in FMCG Marketing, Operations, Sales and Business Development with a track record of growing businesses, UK and Internationally. Before heading the team at Typhoo,he has worked with Tetley as their Managing Director, Europe, Whitebread PLC, Nestle and Ford Motor Company. Marcus has extensive interim managment and consulting experience delivering turnarounds and growth and is a proven General Manager.

Keith Packer is Sales Director of Typhoo Tea Limited. Keith brings 20 years of retail experience to the post, with previous employers including Sainsbury's, Allied Bakeries, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and Britvic. Much of his experience has been managing multi-million pound contracts with the large supermarket chains.A self-confessed gym-junkie, Keith is a keen scuba diver but admits that he only dives abroad as the British waters are too cold for him.

Vijay Dewan
Mr. Vijay Dewan is the Managing Director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, where he is responsible for operations, business strategy formulation, overseeing marketing operations and planning sustainable growth for the hotels. Mr. Dewan's effective leadership, direction and vision have helped The Park Hotels to achieve greater heights. Mr. Dewan has a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management from The Oberoi School of Hotel Management. Mr Dewan started his career with The Oberoi Hotel, Delhi in 1984, moved to The Park Hotels in 1991 and was located at Kolkata, where he took over as General Manager a year later. He was appointed Vice President of The Park Hotels in 1994. Sixteen years in the industry has given Mr. Dewan an in-depth perspective on the needs of the modern day traveler. He thrives on information and believes in constantly updating his skills, which saw him undergo several professional courses including a General Manager's Programme from Cornell University in 1995, a course in Leadership for Change from the London Business School in 1997 and one on Strategic Marketing Management from The Harvard Business School in 2000. Based out of Kolkata, Mr. Dewan is an avid golfer and finds it the ultimate relaxant.

Mr. Deepak Bali is the Vice- President of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, where he is responsible for all Projects, engineering and modernization of existing facilities. Mr. Bali is a thorough professional, hardworking and has a quick understanding of the Projects undertaken and comes up with practical and innovative solutions. Mr. Bali has a Bachelors of Engineering (Marine) and is a fellow of Institute of Marine Engineering (Indian Chapter) has done specialization in project management and Hotel Planning and Design from Cornell University, USA.He has 34 years experience. He started his career with Shipping Corporation of India and later on with an Anglo- Norwegian Company as a Chief Engineer.In 1987, he moved to The Park Hotels as a Chief Engineer and was located at The Park New Delhi. He was promoted to corporate Chief Engineer in 1992 for all the Park Hotels in India. He was appointed Vice President of The Park Hotels in 1994. Eighteen years, in the hotel industry has given Mr. Bali an in-depth perspective on the design and planning of the modern day hotels.He thrives on information and believes in constantly updating his skills, which saw him, undergo several professional courses including industrial Engineering, Planning and design course from Cornell University.Based at New Delhi, Mr. Bali is an avid sportsman.

Capt S. S. Mahapatra joined Apeejay Shipping Limited as Chief Executive Officer in Oct 2004, after a 30 year stint with Great Eastern Shipping. Starting his sea career as a cadet in 1974, he sailed on various types of ships for 13 years, spending the next 17 years in Great Eastern’s head office in Mumbai, in shore based management for a large fleet. He is a Fellow of the Indian Council Of Arbitration and on the panel of ICA’s shipping arbitrators; a member of the Nautical Institute (London) and the Company of Master Mariners here in India. He has been lecturing (since 1997) on commercial shipping as a visiting faculty in various institutes (Mumbai’s LBS College for Advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai Marine Training Institute, Kolkata's Indian Institute of Port Management).

Quiet, serious and gifted with astute business acumen, Mr. Rajiv Chowdhry is the Chief Executive Officer of Apeejay Oxford Bookstores Private Limited joined on September 1 2003. An MBA from Lucknow university, with about two decades of hardcore experience in marketing and sales of consumer products in the highly competitive consumer goods' industry , Mr. Chowdhry is geared to take Oxford forward. After leading 30 retail outlets in Bata for five years, he moved to the liquor division of Shaw Wallace where he was closely involved in the launch of Royal Challenge and Ruby Wines. After gathering an impressive exposure in retail and wholesale trade, Mr. Chowdhry held the reigns in Singer India for 10 years as head of retail expanding its domestic operations from 29 to 56 stores. Rajiv 's rich and quality experience will be an important determinant in Oxford successfully meeting the twin challenges of consolidating operations as well as adding new outlets in the near future.

Mr. Sanjay Mehan is a relatively new member in the Apeejay Family and heads the Real Estate division, which includes all the Apeejay Business Centres across the country. He joined the Group as Real Estate Manager-and General Manager- Administration in September 2002. A Civil Engineer from Banaras Hindu University, Mr Mehan has an illustrious academic background. With over 10 years experience in real estate, construction and maintenance of properties behind him, Mr Mehan's industrial expertise is an asset for the Company. He also excels in his administrative duties and comes across as the perfect disciplinarian.

Mr. Rajeev Mohta, Director - Commercial of Apeejay Insurance Broking Services has been involved in marketing various products for the past 12 years. He possesses over 12 years of marketing experience. He has been associated with Birla Corp for marketing synthetic yarn and subsequently marketing insurance products to large Indian corporates. He has been with AISPL from the time of formation of the company. Rajeev is an avid golfer and has represented India in Golf for almost 20 years. He possesses over 17 years of relevant experience in the insurance sector, spanning areas such as Underwriting, Claim management, Risk Analysis and Valuation. He specializes in Claim management services and survey processes and has serviced clients all over India. He has been part of Insurance Brokerage since its inception in December 2004. His other interests include Indian classical music and indoor games.

Mr. Ashoke Ghosh is the Director - Corporate Finance and has an additional charge of Director (Finance), Apeejay Tea Limited A key figure in the Group Management,he is both a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary and responsible finances of the entire Group. Mr Ghosh's academic brilliance, decisive nature and eye for detail is known to all. His professional experience spanning over fifteen years, speaks volumes about his managerial expertise. Prior to joining Apeejay Surrendra Corporate Services Pvt Ltd in Year 2000, Mr Ghosh had a 12-year stint with India Foils Ltd, as GM and Secretary. An avid rower, Mr Ghosh has a passion for sports and music.

Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik has joined the Group as Director Human Resources and Strategy on 17th January 2005. He is an alumnus of the Birla Institute of Engineering Mesra, Ranchi from where he did his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. He has also done his MS in Operation Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. Prior to joining Apeejay, Sourav worked as Director, Mercer Human Resource Consulting, a leading global consulting firm with annual revenues of over USD 1.9 Billion. While at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, he headed several responsibilities, including heading western region operations and practice leader for Government and large Indian Companies across the country. Prior to Mercer, he has worked with Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Ispat Industries in cross-functional areas like Technical Services, Production Planning, Sales and Marketing etc. Sourav has been actively involved in Industry Associations including FICCI where he was on the national council for Industry and Human Resources. He has been the member of winning team at the Young Manager's Competition and the national runner up in year 1993 organized by AIMA. Sourav has a passion for photography, likes playing a good game of tennis and likes to visit Historical Monuments, which are Architectural masterpieces. He is also actively into Social Work, funding programs for basic education in a small way in his native village in Midnapore district , West Bengal.
Mr. Subhashish Saha joined Apeejay Surrendra Group on 1 April 2008 as Chief Technology Officer. He is a certified ITIL professional, an alumnus of Indian Statistical Institute and a Post graduate in Computer Science. Before joining Apeejay, he has worked in Hindustan Unilever Ltd for 18 years in various roles and capacities. During his tenure in Levers, he has handled several IT infrastructure related projects in the area of both computing and networking framework. He has also modelled, designed and implemented several IT aplication projects in the area of Supply Chain, Customer Relationship Management and Integration framework. He has also handled some of the key technology modules of SAP and lead teams in the area of Sales Commercial and Integration methodology.

Ms. Renu Kakkar is a Post Graduate in Mass Communications from IIMC in charge of the Corporate Communications and software development function for Apeejay Surrendra Group. Born and brought up in New Delhi, she is Vice President - Apeejay Surrendra Corporate Services Pvt Ltd and joined the Group's financial services division as Manager in August of 2000. An alumni of Lady Sri Ram College,New Delhi she was Assistant Editor with The Telegraph, the ABP group in Kolkata till 2000. She began her career with Indian Express, New Delhi after moving to Financial Express as senior correspondent.

Mrs. Shikha Mukherjee is the Chief Executive - Apeejay Education Association Pvt Ltd. She is responsible for the development and advancement of The Paul Foundation, which offers scholarships to meritorious students each year to pursue higher studies in India and abroad. Mrs Mukherjee completed her Master of Arts from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1977 and joined BCCL in 1978. She remained Political Editor of The Times of India till 2001. By virtue of her illustrious academic background, professional expertise and literary repertoire, Mrs Mukherjee has taken the Apeejay Education Association from strength to strength.

Ms. Rita Chatterjee is the Principal of Apeejay School, Kolkata. An alumni of Loreto College and a Master's in English from Calcutta University, Ms Chatterjee has always been passionate about teaching. She joined Apeejay School in 1981 and became the Principal in 1992. A great believer in hard work and honesty, Ms Chatterjee has played a defining role in transforming the school into what it is today.
