Mr. Deepak Atal has joined the Apeejay Tea Group as Managing Director from Oct 1,2004. Mr. Atal brings with him 35 years of management experience having joined the Tea industry in 1969 as an Asst. Manager in Assam with James Warren. Over the years he has commendably handled progressively higher levels of responsibility including Whole Time Director & CEO Duncans Industries Ltd. and Managing Director, Rossell Industries Ltd. Mr. Atal in the year 2000 joined South Asian Petrochem Ltd. as an Executive Director. He has served as Chairman, Indian Tea Association, CCPA, and later Darjeeling Planters Association in the eightees. A keen sports enthusiast with interests in Golf and Cricket Mr. Atal is also active in the Club circle of Kolkata having served as the President of Tollygunge Club in the year 2001-2002. |

Mr. Ashok Kumar Bhargava is the Executive Director of Apeejay Tea. He joined the Apeejay Tea Group in 1977 as a Trainee Assistant Manager, became the youngest Manager in 1986 and was inducted on the board as Director Operations in April 2000. He has been a key member of the team, responsible for transformation of the Tea Group into a producer of superior quality teas. Mr Bhargava is an alumnus of the London Business School where he completed the Senior Executive programme with distinction. He leads his team from the front, aligning them with the company's vision and inspiring them to deliver their very best.

Mr. Marcus D Banfield is the Chief Executive Officer of Typhoo Tea Limited with a progressive career of 32 years in FMCG Marketing, Operations, Sales and Business Development with a track record of growing businesses, UK and Internationally. Before heading the team at Typhoo,he has worked with Tetley as their Managing Director, Europe, Whitebread PLC, Nestle and Ford Motor Company. Mr. Vijay Dewan is the Managing Director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, where he is responsible for operations, business strategy formulation, overseeing marketing operations and planning sustainable growth for the hotels. Mr. Dewan's effective leadership, direction and vision have helped The Park Hotels to achieve greater heights. Mr. Dewan has a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management from The Oberoi School of Hotel Management. Mr Dewan started his career with The Oberoi Hotel, Delhi in 1984, moved to The Park Hotels in 1991 and was located at Kolkata, where he took over as General Manager a year later. He was appointed Vice President of The Park Hotels in 1994. Sixteen years in the industry has given Mr. Dewan an in-depth perspective on the needs of the modern day traveler. He thrives on information and believes in constantly updating his skills, which saw him undergo several professional courses including a General Manager's Programme from Cornell University in 1995, a course in Leadership for Change from the London Business School in 1997 and one on Strategic Marketing Management from The Harvard Business School in 2000. Mr. Bali has a Bachelors of Engineering (Marine) and is a fellow of Institute of Marine Engineering (Indian Chapter) has done specialization in project management and Hotel Planning and Design from Cornell University, USA.He has 34 years experience. He started his career with Shipping Corporation of India and later on with an Anglo- Norwegian Company as a Chief Engineer.In 1987, he moved to The Park Hotels as a Chief Engineer and was located at The Park New Delhi. He was promoted to corporate Chief Engineer in 1992 for all the Park Hotels in India. He was appointed Vice President of The Park Hotels in 1994. Capt S. S. Mahapatra joined Apeejay Shipping Limited as Chief Executive Officer in Oct 2004, after a 30 year stint with Great Eastern Shipping. Starting his sea career as a cadet in 1974, he sailed on various types of ships for 13 years, spending the next 17 years in Great Eastern’s head office in Mumbai, in shore based management for a large fleet. He is a Fellow of the Indian Council Of Arbitration and on the panel of ICA’s shipping arbitrators; a member of the Nautical Institute (London) and the Company of Master Mariners here in India. He has been lecturing (since 1997) on commercial shipping as a visiting faculty in various institutes (Mumbai’s LBS College for Advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai Marine Training Institute, Kolkata's Indian Institute of Port Management).

Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik has joined the Group as Director Human Resources and Strategy on 17th January 2005. He is an alumnus of the Birla Institute of Engineering Mesra, Ranchi from where he did his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. He has also done his MS in Operation Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. Prior to joining Apeejay, Sourav worked as Director, Mercer Human Resource Consulting, a leading global consulting firm with annual revenues of over USD 1.9 Billion. While at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, he headed several responsibilities, including heading western region operations and practice leader for Government and large Indian Companies across the country. Prior to Mercer, he has worked with Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Ispat Industries in cross-functional areas like Technical Services, Production Planning, Sales and Marketing etc. Sourav has been actively involved in Industry Associations including FICCI where he was on the national council for Industry and Human Resources. He has been the member of winning team at the Young Manager's Competition and the national runner up in year 1993 organized by AIMA. Sourav has a passion for photography, likes playing a good game of tennis and likes to visit Historical Monuments, which are Architectural masterpieces. He is a certified ITIL professional, an alumnus of Indian Statistical Institute and a Post graduate in Computer Science. Before joining Apeejay, he has worked in Hindustan Unilever Ltd for 18 years in various roles and capacities. During his tenure in Levers, he has handled several IT infrastructure related projects in the area of both computing and networking framework.
